Fistiki Fest 2022
If you are looking for a good reason to visit Aegina, it could be the Pistachio Festival. This is a unique event in Greece that is organized every September on the beloved Argosaronic island. And since the weather at that time is still sweet and warm, take advantage of it to enjoy the beaches of Aegina, but also to experience the Aegina Fistiki Fest 2022 up close.
Aegina Fistiki Fest
What many do not know before experiencing the pulse of the festival up close is that it is not just a celebration where this nutritious fruit has its due. Beyond the stands with vendors promoting their peanut-based products, the celebration is framed by a rich artistic program with interesting events:
- Painting exhibitions
- concerts
- Theatrical Performance
- gastronomy evenings
- talks
- days
- tours
- children's events
they keep locals and visitors busy everyday adding a happy touch to their days and evenings.
This year the Pistachio Festival returns for the 13th year, in the wake of the pandemic and the restrictive measures that were in place last year. For this reason the 13th Aegina Fistiki Fest from September 15 to 18 will be a highly anticipated and unprecedented event.
The Aegina Fistiki Fest is organized by the Municipality of Aegina and the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Aegina, under the auspices of the Regional Unity of the Islands. The core of the Festival is, of course, none other than the trade fair that is set up along the city's central coastal boulevard. So it is accessible to everyone. Even to those who visit Aegina for a one-day excursion or for a few hours, as is the case with the One Day Cruise. Within the available time, visitors have the opportunity to go through all the exhibition stands, taste the local products and do their shopping.
The Path of Artists
Every year, since the first organization of Aegina Fistiki Fest in September 2009, the Organizing Committee of the festival invites the artists of Aegina to participate in the Artists' Route. The Artists' Journey lasts about a month. This year, it will run from August 19 to September 20, 2022, one day after the Festival ends. The primary objective of the Artists' Route is the promotion of the island and the economic stimulation of local businesses. A partial goal, however, is the promotion of the artists who live and create their works on the island. At the same time, the strong presence of art aims to familiarize the residents with contemporary artistic activity. On the part of visitors, it gives them the motivation and the opportunity to discover the commercial and historical center of the city of Aegina.
This year, the works will be hosted in commercial shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and workshops. Included are those located in the wider area of the center, from the Vogiatzi building to the Municipal Stadium of Aegina. Excluding those located along the coastal Avenue of Democracy where the exhibition of the 13th Fistiki Fest takes place.
Each artist can choose the space that will host his work, respecting the character of each space. Finally, the venue is chosen after the artist consults with its owner and the organizers of the Festival.
